Advancing prostate cancer diagnosis through next-generation ultrasound
Less Grey Imaging is a Scottish medical imaging technology company founded in 2023 as a spinout from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Less Grey Imaging is developing ProViu, a novel ultrasound imaging platform purpose-built for prostate cancer diagnostics – targeting one of urology’s most pressing unmet clinical needs. The foundation of the technology is superresolution ultrasound, which delivers microvascular imaging of the prostate at point of care, providing diagnostic capability without the infrastructure requirements, contraindications or capacity constraints associated with multiparametric MRI – the current standard of care.
Less Grey Imaging operates at the intersection of advanced ultrasound physics, applied mathematics, artificial intelligence and prostate cancer diagnostics, with a clear regulatory pathway and a growing body of clinical data supporting its technology.
A Global Problem
the most common cancer in men
million new diagnoses annually
deaths from prostate cancer every year
million biopsies /year
From research to real-world clinical impact
Our work is focused on translating advanced science into practical clinical tools. By enabling high-resolution prostate imaging using existing ultrasound systems, we aim to make prostate cancer detection more accessible, efficient, and scalable across healthcare systems. Our clinical data demonstrates:
reduction in missed cancers
reduction in unnecessary biopsies
The team behind the development of ProViu, combining expertise in ultrasound physics, applied mathematics, machine learning, and clinical translation.
